Wicked: For Good

After the movie “Wicked” was released almost a full year ago, audiences are now eagerly waiting for the release of the second part of the movie, “Wicked: For Good.” The second movie will be released on Nov. 21 and will be eligible to watch in AMC and IMAX theatres. Additionally, AMC theatres will be having a double feature for both “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good,” which is estimated to be about five to six hours long with a short intermission between the films.

Based on what has been shown in trailers and what was set up at the end of the first part, Elphaba has now been deemed the Wicked Witch of the West and has been exiled from Emerald City, and now lives in the Ozian forest, while Glinda has been given the title “Glinda the Good” by the people in the palace. In the first movie, people saw where Elphaba's and Glinda’s friendship stemmed from and how it started out for them. Now, audiences will be able to watch how powerful their bond will become.

“Wicked: For Good” is two hours and 17 minutes long, and the budget for this film was estimated to be $165 million, which is more than the $145 million budget of the first movie. Since there was more money put into the making of this movie, it is expected to be worth watching and of even better quality and acting. The movie was directed by Jon M. Chu, and the music was written by Stephen Schwartz, who was also the composer and lyricist for the original Broadway stage production of “Wicked,” which this movie is based on.

Like in part one, returning to star in this movie are Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz. New characters of the cast include Colman Domingo as the voice of the Cowardly Lion. Characters with small parts in the first movie are expected to return with larger roles in this second installment, including Peter Dinklage as the voice of Dr. Dillamond, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle and Colin Michael Carmichael as Professor Nikidik.

The graphics of the film also seem to have a warmer tint and more dramatic lighting than what was seen in the first movie. In the clips that have been released through trailers, every scene looks to be very detailed, and all of it looks as if it could be real.

The movie has six genres in total that make up the movie, including musical, fantasy, romance, action, drama and adventure. It is a family-friendly movie that everyone can enjoy. The looks of this film are very promising, and audiences cannot wait to watch it to see and hear more of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. It will most likely be a magical and heartwarming experience for returning “Wicked” fans.
