This year as the Warren Central girls volleyball season begins to wrap up, they are thinking back on the progress they’ve made so far during the season and how they will prepare to gear up for the rest of the season into the post-season, which begins Oct. 14.

The girls volleyball team has made some progress during their season. They won their matches against schools like Decatur Central, Beech Grove and Park Tudor. However, they lost their matches against schools like Bloomington South, North Central, and Lawrence North.

Despite having some ups and downs so far this year, the team is dedicated to doing their best while playing on the court. Many of them hope to accomplish goals to help their team in the remainder of the season.

“My goals for the rest of the season is to continue improving our team communication and become more consistent,” senior Olivia Nicholas said.

While playing volleyball does take some practice and hard work to get behind, there are some favorite moments to be had during the season that not only make the experience more enjoyable but also makes it more fun.

“My favorite moments during the season are when we get into those high-energy intense matches and games,” senior Melia Nickelson said. “Those games really feel like we’re fighting.”

With the post-season upon the horizon, the girls are gearing up to face off in a competitive match and putting all their physical skills to good use of serving, passing, blocking and defending in the competition.

It’s not always expected that they’ll win, but if the team feels that there’s something that could’ve gone better, they often work to improve on those skills.

“The way I think I can improve my volleyball skills is to work more on my techniques with setting and work with my setter-hitter connection during practice and keeping that same energy during matches and games,” senior Genesis Tarigan said.
