Thumbs up to…This year's Emmy winners. “The Pitt,” won for Outstanding Drama Series, and its star Noah Wyle finally has won his first Emmy after his last nomination 26 years ago for his work on “ER.” Owen Cooper also has won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in the limited series “Adolescence.” He has also become the youngest male actor to have ever won an Emmy at 15 years old. Last but not least, Seth Rogen won several Emmys for the series “The Studio,” which took home 13 statuettes in total.
Thumbs up to…The ozone layer recovering after 40 years of global efforts. The World Meteorological Organization gave a report stating that the ozone layer is on track to fully recover mid-century.. Susan Solomon, the Lee and Geraldine Martin Professor of Environmental Studies and Chemistry, said that. “There's been a lot of qualitative evidence showing that the Antarctic ozone hole is getting better. This is really the first study that has quantified confidence in the recovery of the ozone hole.”
These findings have given scientists “full confidence” that the ozone is healing due to reducing harmful substances several decades ago that were found in mostly refrigeration, air conditioning and aerosol sprays.

The selection of the Puerto Rican rapper and singer came from him leading all the Latin Grammy nominations, and he is also one of the world's most streamed artists with his big hits. On Feb. 8, 2026, Bad Bunny will be leading the halftime festivities in the home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
Thumbs down to…To the historic lows in which test scores are dropping below average with high school seniors. The new Nation's Report Card was released Sept. 9, and it was shown in math and reading that half of high school seniors are now testing below average level which is continuing the yearslong decline. Only 35% are testing at a proficient reading level, while 32% are below basic efficiency
Thumbs down to…A shooting in Southport, North Carolina,where three people were killed while five to eight others were injured. The shooting took place on Sept. 28 at the Southport Yacht Basin at 9:30 p.m., and most victims of the shooting were tourists who were visiting. The gunman was shooting from his boat with an assault rifle. Authorities have arrested a suspect, Nigel Edge, a resident of Oak Island, North Carolina. Edge has been charged with first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder, and he is being held at Brunswick County Jail without bail until his first court trial.

Ramiro Caal Jolomna for taking two teenage girls from Mexico and Guatemala and forcing them to work on a farm with little to no pay. He has now been charged by Pennsylvania authorities. Jolomna had been threatening the girls with deportation to force the girls to work on a mushroom farm for seven days a week, and they were also being charged “debts” by Jolomna for bringing them into the country. The girls, ages 14 and 17, were deprived from school to work on the farm, and authorities found out that the 17-year-old girl was brought to the U.S by a sponsorship while they do not know how the 14-year-old girl got here.
